PROPERTY TAX SCAM HITS LA

A property tax fraud scheme has hit LA, which means it will not be long before the scam starts showing up in other cities across the country.

Official-looking documentation is sent out by the "Property Tax Reassessment Office", suggesting that a mistake has been made on your property tax assessment and that you are due a rebate. To file a claim, you will need to pay the processing fees upfront. In LA, that's $179.

Wary property holders should note that the "official" letter carries a return address of a post office box.
